As part of the ongoing activities of the Regional Integrated Assessment in Pakistan, AgMIP recently sponsored the “AgMIP-Pakistan Kickoff Workshop & International Seminar on Climate Change”. The Workshop was held at the University of Agriculture in Faisalabad, Pakistan from June 4-6, 2013.
At the meeting, Momin Agha, Special Secretary of Agriculture, expressed that the government is planning to formulate agriculture policies that will boost agricultural productivity in the country for the next decade. An article covering the event appeared in the national newspaper of Pakistan and the Express Tribune.
Ag-GRID members are hosting a workshop to kick-off a new USAID funded project designed to enhance gridded crop modeling by improving the quality and availability of gridded data products (weather/climate, soils, genetics, and management) and technologies. The workshop takes place May 6th – 7th at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida and involves participants from University of Florida, U. Chicago, Columbia, IFPRI, NASA GISS, U. Maryland, and others.
Ag-GRID organizes side event at the IMPACTS WORLD 2013 conference in Potsdam. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, Ag-GRID will meet from 6 to 8 pm as a side event to the IMPACTS WORLD 2013 conference to discuss further plans with respect to Ag-GRID, GGCMI and ISI-MIP. Everyone interested please join!
Overview: With partial support of DFID/UKaid, ICRISAT/CCAFS, and CIMMYT/CSISA, AgMIP is conducting a training course to enable researchers to utilize multiple crop models and AgMIP software tools to conduct Regional Integrated Assessments of crop production and food security. With a focus on experienced crop modelers who are advancing AgMIP Protocol-driven research in South Asia (SA) and Sub Saharan Africa (SSA), the training will expand modelers’ knowledge base to include DSSAT or APSIM methods. Additionally, the sessions will train a small number of experienced crop modelers as Trainers capable of providing instruction and/or guidance to other researchers in SA and SSA. (more…)
The DSSAT Foundation, in collaboration with Washington State University, the University of Florida, the International Fertilizer Development Center, the University of Georgia, and various other institutions, will host a Training Program on DSSAT entitled DSSAT 2013 – “Assessing Crop Production, Nutrient Management, Climatic Risk and Environmental Sustainability with Simulation Models” from May 20 through May 25, 2013 at the University of Georgia Campus in Griffin, Georgia, USA.
